| Artist Statement: Tribute is a solid pile of clothes where each item is placed in a prismatic order and stands as a symbol of both unity and individuality. It speaks of homogeny while taking in consideration the unique quality found in each garment. The piece is composed of select recycled garments, which distinguish the individuals who once wore them while becoming an architectural element in the overall sculpture. It combines the beauty of our multi-cultural community while exposing concerns posed by mass consumption and easy disposability. A metaphor for an idealistic society and the obstacles it must overcome. |
